Rabbi Yoshiyahu Pinto Undergoes Successful Surgery

Israeli Rabbi Yoshiyahu Pinto underwent successful surgery two weeks ago at Weill Cornell Presbyterian Hospital in New York, USA.

During his rehabilitation at the hospital, Rabbi Pinto received a visit from Mr. Malcolm Hoenlein, Vice-President of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations since June 1986 and expert in international relations specializing in the Middle East, who was awarded a Ouissam Alaouite by His Majesty King Mohamed VI, in recognition of several years of friendship and cooperation between the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations and Morocco, since the late King Hassan II rule.

Mr. Hoenlein inquired about Rabbi Pinto’s health and wished him a speedy recovery so that he could resume his activity in the fields of charity and teaching the Torah to the Jews of the world, through his schools in many countries, including Morocco.

Despite the fact that Rabbi Pinto’s age is 45 years old, he has been suffering from cancer for many years. A few months ago, His Majesty King Mohammed VI appointed him President of the Rabbinical Court in a big ceremony at the Beth El Synagogue in Casablanca, in the presence of several senior Moroccan officials, including the Wali of the Casablanca-Settat region, Mr. Said Hmiddouch and representatives of the Jewish community in Morocco, headed Mr. Serge Berdugo, Secretary General of the Council of Jewish Communities in Morocco.

It is worth mentioning that Rabbi Pinto is one of the greatest rabbis in the world and the spiritual guide of many famous personalities in the fields of politics, art, economics and business.

He is the president of the international organization Shuva Isarel, and he comes from a line of rabbis known to Ashdod in Israel. The sanctuary of his great-grandfather, buried in Essaouira, is a pilgrimage destination for all Moroccan Jews around the world.
