700 Artists to Perform at the Ahouach Festival In Ouarzazate

The city of Ouarzazate will host the 8th edition of the Ahouach National Arts Festival, organized by the Ministry of Culture and Communication, in partnership with the province of Ouarzazate, the Draa-Tafilalet Regional Council, the Provincial Council and the Ouarzazate Municipal Council, and with the collaboration of the Specialized Institute of Applied Hotel and Tourism Technology of the same city, from June 27 to 29.

This event, which is organized under the high patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, will take place under the theme “Ahouach’s arts and oasis cultures”, with the participation of more than 700 artists representing the best Ahouach bands, who will host parties and give shows in the Plaza de la Casbah de Taourirt in Ouarzazate.

This edition will also feature the participation of youth and children’s bands. A scientific symposium on the theme “the relationship between Ahouach arts and oasis culture” will be held, with the participation of researchers and people interested in cultural heritage. A tribute will be paid to pioneering figures in this musical genre, just as a carnival, exhibitions, art workshops, etc. are all planned activities within the framework of this event, as stated in a statement received from the organizers.

The same communiqué states that “Aware of the need to safeguard this intangible cultural heritage and bring it closer to the general public, and more particularly to young people and children, the Ministry of Culture is working to preserve and promote it by encouraging artistic groups and associations interested in the cultural heritage, and by supporting artists in this field who constitute living treasures”. He went on to say that “insofar as Ouarzazate has heritage, tourist and historical assets, the Ministry is absolutely determined to make this city the incubator par excellence for this artistic event. “, adding that the Aouach Arts Festival is “an annual occasion during which artistic groups come together to offer the public intense moments when tastes will certainly be refined”.
