This film, which will be presented to the national press next Wednesday at the Megarama cinema complex in Casablanca, brings together a fine selection of Moroccan and foreign artists. These include: Spanish star Rodolfo Sancho, Spanish actress Marisa Paredes, Italian actress Carolina Crescentini, Italian actor Giancarlo Giannini, as well as Moroccan actors Hamid Baskit, Mohammed Azzouzi, Jamal Alabbasi and Kamal Moumad.

The film, the result of a major Italian-Moroccan production, will be distributed by Canal 4 in more than 40 countries and will be screened in several cinemas in Morocco, including Casablanca, Rabat, Tangier, Marrakech, Fez and Tetouan.

The film, which was shot between Italy, Morocco and Great Britain, tells the extraordinary adventures of a controversial historical figure, Domingo Pedia, alias Ali Bey al-Abbasi, a legendary 18th century character who was a spy, an adventurer, an orientalist, an astronomer and a philosopher speaking several languages and mastering the laws in force at that time.

The film deals with a number of hot topics such as conspiracies, barbaric wars, religious intolerance, as well as Western values.
