Princess Lalla Meryem Presides the Inauguration of the International Charity Bazaar

Princess Lalla Meryem presided the inauguration ceremony of the Diplomatic Circle’s International Charity Bazaar, under the high support of the King Mohammed VI, at the Mohammed V National Theater in Rabat on Saturday.

After cutting the symbolic ribbon to announce the opening of the Charity Bazaar, Princess Lalla Meryem followed explanations given to her on the projects carried out by the Diplomatic Circle in the cultural and social sectors, and the associations supported by the Circle in several areas. She then visited the various stands of the International Charity Bazaar, where a wide variety of handicrafts and local products from several countries around the world representing the different continents are on display.

In a special address, the President of the Diplomatic Circle, wife of the Swedish Ambassador to Rabat, Danielle Kebbon, said that this charity Bazaar is an opportunity for a cultural exchange to share the heritage of countries through crafts and gastronomy, as well as a recognition of the hospitality displayed by the Kingdom.

The 30th edition of the Charity Bazaar is a special opportunity to express friendship and help women and children, she added, reviewing the achievements of the previous year, which included support for 14 associations working in the field of women and children to reduce disparities.

The theme for the coming year will focus on the empowerment of women, as it is essential to achieve development for them,” said Ms. Kebbon.

At the end of the ceremony, Princess Lalla Meryem posed for a souvenir photo.

The Charity Bazaar is an annual occasion organized by the Diplomatic Circle in Morocco to celebrate friendship and solidarity and is an important means of supporting Moroccan NGOs working in the fields of education, health and development of women in rural areas.

The Bazaar is the flagship activity of the Diplomatic Circle, whose members are the spouses of the Heads of Diplomatic Missions and representatives of international organizations accredited to Morocco. They come together around a common ideal which is to help the most vulnerable and the most deprived, while raising the values of fraternity, solidarity and generosity in a climate of mutual understanding and respect between cultures and religions.

More than 40 countries representing Africa, America, Asia, Europe and the Middle East are participating in this edition through their embassies with a wide variety of products.
