An Increase of More than 11% in Air Traffic in Moroccan Airports in 2019

This growth was also recorded at the level of international traffic, which exceeded 22 million passengers with an increase of 9.80%, according to data published by the National Airports Office (ONDA).

With 17,464,911 passengers in 2019, air traffic with Europe, which represents more than 79% of international air traffic, recorded a strong growth of 10.82%.

This growth also concerns the segments of North America, the Maghreb countries, the Middle and Far East and Africa with growth rates of +16.89%, +6.78%, +4.42% and +4.29% respectively.

Over the same period, Mohammed V airport, which takes up more than 41% of the global air traffic, welcomed 10,306,293 passengers with a progression of about 5.88%. The growth was particularly strong for the airports of Dakhla (+26.73%), Marrakech (+21.13%) and Tangiers (+20.07%).

In addition, aircraft movements recorded in Moroccan airports increased by 10.84% to 210,419 movements. The traffic of commercial aircrafts flying over the Moroccan airspace experienced a slight decrease by 0.6% and stood at 236,454 aircraft movements.

Air freight, on its part, experienced during the year 2019, a sustained growth in comparison with the year 2018 (+8.89%) to reach 96,074.91 tons against 88,230.70 tons in 2018.
