Mixed Martial Arts: The Moroccan Youssef Zalal Wins in Houston his First Fight at the UFC

The Moroccan Youssef Zalal won his first Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) match against American Austin Lingo by a unanimous decision on Saturday in Houston (southern USA).

Thanks to his footwork and his ability to knock his opponent down several times during the fight, Zalal largely dominated Lingo, making him suffer his first defeat in MMA (Mixed Martial Arts).

This victory in the featherweight category (66kg) allows the Moroccan fighter to get his 8th victory in MMA while losing twice.

Statistically, Zalal scored 58 significant moves against 15 for Lingo, with an accuracy of 63% against 20% for the American and 6 knocks against one in favor of the Moroccan.

Speaking to the famous commentator Joe Rogan after the fight, carrying a Moroccan flag, the man nicknamed “The Moroccan Devil” said he was “proud to share his Moroccan and African roots” with UFC fans.

The UFC 247 is being held on Saturday at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas, with the main event being the fight between mid-heavyweight champion Jon Jones and his challenger, the undefeated Dominick Reyes.
