The Moroccan women Rajaa Akermach and Soukaina Sebbar are officially qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, at the end of the African para-taekwondo qualifiers, played on Monday at the Prince Moulay Abdellah sports complex in Rabat.
Rajaa Akermach (K44, -75 kg) won the opining match after clearly dominating the Egyptian Amal Khalaf in the final by a score of 34-3, while Soukaina Sebbar qualified directly because of the absence of an opponent in her category (K44 -58 kg).
On the other hand, Mohamed Attaf (K44, -75 kg) missed out after his defeat in the semi-final against Senegalese Seyee Ibrahima (16-24).
Another Moroccan will be present in Tokyo, namely Rachid Ismaîli, who already has his ticket in his pocket thanks to his world ranking.
It should be recalled that three out of four Moroccan Taekwondo players have ensured their qualification for the Olympic Games in Tokyo (OG-2020) thanks to their victory in the semi-final of the African qualifiers played on 22 and 23 February in Rabat.
Thus, Oumaima El Bouchiti (-49kg), Achraf Mahboubi (-80kg) and Nada Laâraj (-57) qualified after winning their fights respectively against the Senegalese Fall Ngone (29-9), the Burkinabe Faysal Sawadogo (14-9) and the Ghanaian Eunice Omalara (30-1).
