Violation of the State of Emergency: 2,268 Arrests in 24 Hours

The security operations carried out to impose the state of health emergency decided to control the spread of the new Coronavirus pandemic (Covid-19) have led to the arrest, in the last 24 hours, of 2,268 individuals, 1,402 of whom have been placed in police custody at the disposal of the preliminary investigations ordered by the competent public prosecutor’s offices, says the Directorate General of National Health (DGSN), adding that the remaining individuals arrested have been subjected to investigation, punching and identity verification procedures.

In a statement, the DGSN states that the security operations carried out to impose the application of the measures of the state of emergency, since the date of its declaration by the public authorities, a total of 26,579 individuals have been arrested in all the cities of the Kingdom, 14,143 of whom were brought before the competent prosecutors’ offices after the procedure of police custody.

These arrests were distributed among the police departments and regional and provincial security as follows: Casablanca police department (4,033), Rabat police department (3,513), Kenitra police department (3,149), Oujda police department (2,696), Marrakesh police department (2,408), Agadir police department (2,127) and Salé provincial security (1). 953), Beni Mellal Police Prefecture (973), Fez Police Prefecture (913), Meknes Police Prefecture (742), Tetouan Police Prefecture (586), Ouarzazate Provincial Security (561), El Jadida Provincial Security (550), Settat Police Prefecture (527), Errachidia Provincial Security (446), Tangiers Police Prefecture (444), Laayoune Police Prefecture (393), Safi Provincial Security (242), Taza Regional Security (204) and Al Hoceima Regional Security (119).

The DGSN assures, in this context, that its services will continue to intensify control operations in all cities and to coordinate their interventions with the various public authorities in order to impose the strict and correct application of the state of emergency, capable of guaranteeing the health security of all citizens.
