The 10th edition of “Marrakech du rire” (the Marrakech Laughter Festival) will not take place, announces Jamel Debbouze via his Twitter account. The event, which was scheduled to take place from 9 to 14 June, has finally been canceled due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
“Faced with too many uncertainties linked to this CONNARD-VIRUS and the impossibility of preparing this festival in good conditions, it is with great regret that we are forced to cancel this June 2020 edition”, writes the comedian.
The founder of the “Marrakech du rire” was delighted to celebrate the 10th anniversary of this festival, which has managed to occupy a prominent place among international comedy events. “We wanted to make it an extraordinary moment. As you know, this festival is particularly close to my heart, I’ve been putting a lot of energy and passion into it for years,” he said.
The artist did not fail to pay tribute to all the stakeholders of the festival for whom this cancellation will certainly be a real disappointment, if not a deprivation, the public first. “A special thanks to the “Marrakech du rire” teams, to all the technicians, artists, partners and the public who have been with us for all these years,” he says in his message.
It must be said that the 10th anniversary of the “Marrakech du rire” looked particularly promising. Debbouze had promised “10 times more laughter” with several novelties and about twenty shows on the program. But don’t worry, the Franco-Moroccan comedian is only going to be back in the spotlight. “We will meet again in June 2021 and we will celebrate togather as it should be the ten years of Marrakech of laughter on M6 and the party will be even more beautiful,” he assured.
