The Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech has been chosen as Ajax Amsterdam’s Player of the Year, the Dutch club announced on Friday on its website.
Ziyech, who will join Chelsea when the Premier League resumes next season, has scored nine goals and 21 assists in all competitions and is selected as Ajax’s player of the year for the third year running.
The Atlas Lion, who has been Ajax’s star player for four seasons, has signed a five-year contract to join Frank Lampard’s Blues for the sum of €44 million. Having been unable to say goodbye on the pitch after the Eredivisie season was brought to an end due to the Coronavirus, the Ajax No22 received a heartfelt tribute from the Amsterdam club.
In tears, the Moroccan international watched videos of messages from his team-mates and also from his mother who, speaking in Darija, wished him good luck in his new London adventure.
