Playing for the Moroccan Flag: The Dream of a Young Moroccan Player

After signing his first professional contract in Ligue 1, the midfielder Yassine Boujouama is now aiming for the Atlas Lions jersey.

On 3 June, the young defensive midfielder Yassine Boujouama signed his first professional contract with Bordeaux Girondins (French Ligue 1) at the age of 18.

Born in France, he remains qualified to play for Les Bleus, but he only has eyes for Vahid Halilhodzic’s Atlas Lions. However, he says there has not yet been any real contact with the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF).

“One day, if I have the opportunity, it would be a great pride to represent Morocco. It’s a childhood dream for me, of course,” the young hopeful told Maroc Foot Talk.

Before joining the Lions’ lair, Yassine Boujouama already has a preference for one of its players: “I like Ziyech a lot, especially in relation to his past. But above all, he is a fantastic player and a real source of enjoyment for all football fans. His story is inspiring because with all the problems he had, he still managed to get his head up and he is now one of the best players in the world.
