Ashraf Hakimi: The Pride of Moroccans

Despite his young age, Achraf Hakimi is a very talented football player. The Moroccans are very proud of him. He has honoured Morocco in many high level sporting events and prestigious clubs such as Real Madrid, where he started his sporting career and where he played until he started his professional career.

His first friendly match with this club took place in 2016 in the United States against the Paris Saint-Germain team. He played that match without any complexes, despite the fact that he was competing against top-level internationals.

It’s not easy to play for a prestigious club like Real, especially when you’re of Arab origin. However, thanks to his talent and the confidence of coach Zinedine Zidane, Hakimi has managed to join the club and wear the 19 jersey, replacing the highly regarded player Danny Carvajal. He is the first Arab player to join Real Madrid. He is also the first Arab and African to play a match in which the royal team came out on top with 5-0, just as he is the second Arab player in history to be crowned in the Champions League.

Hakimi’s origins can be traced back to Laksar Lakbir. His mother is from Oued Zem. But he was born in Madrid in 1998. He grew up in Spain, but he was not a stranger to Morocco. As a result, he did not hesitate for a moment to wear the national jersey and defend the colors of the Moroccan flag in the team that played in the 2018 World Cup. He was one of the greatest admirers of Noureddine Naybet, Marouane Chamakh and Mustafa Hajji. But his favourite player is the Brazilian Marcelo. Indeed, many analysts see Hakimi as the successor to this football icon and one who will further develop his style of play.

Hakimi is considered one of Morocco’s most famous players, but also one of the most controversial on social networks, as he often shares “hot” photos of himself with his wife, Heba Abouk, the Spanish actress of Tunisian origin.
