The film “Night Walk”, by Moroccan director Aziz Tazi, has reached Grindstone-Lionsgate for a North American theatrical release in the spring of 2021.
“Night Walk” is the first Moroccan full-length feature film in history to be distributed in Hollywood.
Mickey Rourke plays Gary, a Neo-Nazi leader with total control over what goes on in a prison full of gangs. Frank is a Western journalist visiting the Middle East, where his girlfriend Sarah lives. As a result of a tragic incident leading up to Sarah’s death, Frank is wrongly imprisoned by corrupt police and, under the direction of the prison leader (Mickey Rourke) and the protection of his Muslim cellmate (The Weasel), he exposes political machinations at the highest levels of the U.S. government in quest for justice.
The film also features Oscar-nominated actors Eric Roberts, Sarah Alami, Ricco Ross, Richard Tyson, Louis Mandylor and Patrick Kilpatrick.
“Night Walk” was shot between Los Angeles and five cities in Morocco. Aziz Tazi thus directed the first Moroccan film in history to be distributed in Hollywood. Regarding his collaboration with Tazi, Rourke told Piers Morgan: “It was a really great experience”. The film is expected to be released in spring 2021.
