Royal Air Maroc: The State Rescue Plan

The national economy, particularly the airline industry, was severely affected following the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Royal Air Maroc, already in financial difficulties, found itself stuck on the ground due to a lack of traffic and passengers, but also faced daily fixed costs of maintenance during the period of confinement.

In order to ensure the survival of the national company and to perpetuate its activity, the State is providing financial support amounting to 6 MMDH (625.4K USD). This was announced on Monday in the House of Representatives by the Minister of Economy and Finance, Mohamed Benchaâboun, during discussions on the amending finance bill.

The minister thus assured that “this support comes within the framework of state support to public enterprises impacted by the health crisis related to the Covid-19 pandemic”.
