Tourism Revival: Details of the Program Contract Signed in Rabat

The Program Contract for the revival of the tourism sector, which will cover the period 2020-2022, was signed on Thursday in Rabat, with the aim of supporting and reviving the tourism sector in the post-Covid19 phase.

This program was signed on the sidelines of the 9th meeting of the Economic Intelligence Committee (CVE). It contains a set of accompanying measures in favor of this key sector of the national economy, and aims at giving a strong momentum to the sector and at giving a new dynamic to support its revival, its transformation and the diversification of its value chain.

Speaking on this occasion, the Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, Air Transport and Social Economy, Nadia Fettah Alaoui, has indicated that all the public and private actors have combined their efforts in order to develop this contract program which brings together ambitious measures and match the stakes and challenges facing the tourism sector.

She also said that the measures undertaken in the framework of this program contract were designed around 3 fundamental ideas, namely, maintaining jobs and preserving the economic base, stimulating demand and the structural transformation of the sector.

This program-contract, which covers the period 2020-2022, includes 21 measures which will enable the sector to preserve the economic basis, to reduce the weight of the informal sector, to stimulate investment and the transformation of the production tool and to lay the foundations for a sustainable transformation of tourism in Morocco, she underlined.

For his part, the President of the National Tourism Confederation (CNT), Abdellatif Kabbaj, noted that this program contract aims at guaranteeing access to social security coverage for all the actors of the sector, while maintaining jobs and incomes for more than 80% of the staff by the end of the year 2020.

It also aims to provide economic and financial support to the sector to revive and protect businesses operating in tourism by facilitating the repayment of loans granted by banks.

This program contract aims at making the mutual commitments of the public sector and the private sector contractual. It has been concluded on the one hand by the State, represented by the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Administration Reform, the Ministry of Tourism, Handicraft, Air Transport and Social Economy, the Ministry of Labour and Professional Insertion, and on the other hand, the private sector, represented by the National Confederation of Tourism (CNT) and the Professional Grouping of Banks of Morocco (GPBM).
