Saidia: A Tribute to Those Involved in the Fight against Covid-19

The Corniche of Saidia hosted, Saturday evening, the opening of an exhibition of the painter Abdelkader Belbachir, during which a tribute was paid to several actors in the fight against the new Coronavirus.

This event was placed under the sign of art and awareness of Covid-19 and held in the presence of the governor of the province of Berkane. It was marked by the presentation of a large 12-meter long canvas, created by Abdelkader Belbachir and the young people of the House of the Artist of Taourirt, which he directs.

This work pays tribute to the various actors as well as sectors at the forefront of the battle against the Coronavirus, including health personnel, security services and local authorities who have been mobilized to deal with this epidemic under the enlightened leadership of HM King Mohammed VI.

In a speech on this occasion, the Regional Director of Culture of the Oriental region, Mountassir Loukili, stressed that this exhibition shows that artists and creators are also mobilized to face, at their level, this epidemic, by using their creativity to raise awareness on ways to prevent this epidemic.

He also noted that the Department of Culture provides support to artists in this difficult economic climate. In particular through the support program for cultural professionals, which includes a call for artistic projects for an overall budget of 39 million DH.

For his part, the artist Abdelkader Belbachir said that this exhibition symbolizes the continuity of artistic creation during the crisis of Covid-19, as well as providing an opportunity to raise awareness of the fight against this virus under the theme “art faces the pandemic”.

The exhibition is intended to salute the efforts of all those involved in the fight against the pandemic and to protect citizens and society,” he added.

Tributes were paid on this occasion to representatives of the local authorities and security services of the province of Berkane, representatives of the Department of Health, civil society actors and media professionals, among others.
