Achoura: Festivities Prohibited in this City of Morocco

The provincial authorities of Safi announced on Thursday the banning of the various festivities celebrating Ashoura as part of the exceptional measures to prevent the spread of the new Coronavirus (Covid-19).

Accordingly, the governor of the province, Lahoucine Chaynane, issued a decision banning all festivities organized during Ashura 1442 H at the provincial level, including campfires (Chouala), firecrackers, visits to cemeteries and gatherings in neighborhoods.

According to this decision, those who violate the law will be subject to the punishments provided under the exceptional measures to limit the spread of the new Coronavirus.

This decision came into force from Thursday, the same source said, recalling that the application of these provisions has been entrusted to the competent local and security authorities.
