Donald and Melania Trump tested positive for coronavirus. The announcement was made on 2 October by the US President himself.
“President Trump remains in a good mood, shows mild symptoms and works all day long. As a precaution, and on the recommendation of his doctor and medical experts, the president will work from Walter Reed’s presidential office for the next few days,” White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany said in a statement.
On Saturday, a MAP agency dispatch announced that King Mohammed VI sent his wishes for a speedy recovery to U.S. President Donald Trump and the First Lady of the United States, Melania Trump.
In this message, the Sovereign said he was “very sorry” to learn that President Trump and the First Lady had tested positive at Covid-19, wishing them a speedy and complete recovery.
A message that made the US embassy in Morocco react. The diplomatic representation of the country of Uncle Sam was quick to thank King Mohammed VI for his warm message.
“Thank you, Your Majesty, for your kind words and those of many Moroccans, wishing President Trump and the First Lady a speedy recovery,” the US embassy wrote on its Facebook page.
Donald Trump released a video Saturday night in which he said he felt “much better”, thanking the staff at Walter Reed National Military Medical Centre where he has been hospitalized since testing positive at Covid-19 Thursday night.
“I came here, I wasn’t feeling so well. I feel much better now,” he said in the video broadcast on Twitter, expressing his gratitude to the American people for all the support he has received.
“I would also like to thank world leaders for their wishes (…) I will not forget this,” he said.
“We are going to defeat this coronavirus, or what you want to call it,” the president added, assuring that First Lady Melania Trump was doing “very well”.
Earlier Saturday, the personal physician of the US president, Dr Sean Conley, told the press that Trump had a mild cough, nasal congestion and fatigue, but that his symptoms were improving. The president has had no fever for 24 hours and his heart and liver function was normal, the doctor added.
The previous evening Dr Conley had said in a note that the US President had completed his first dose of Remdesivir, one of the few drugs proven effective against Covid-19 and approved by US regulators, adding that Trump was fine and did not need respiratory assistance.
Trump, 74, tested positive on Thursday after one of his key employees, Hope Hicks, was diagnosed with the virus earlier in the day. Since then, several Republican senators who have been in direct contact with the president in recent days have also tested positive for the virus, as has his campaign manager.
