The sessions devoted to the Head of Government’s answers to questions of general policy will henceforth deal with a single axis in a maximum of two hours, the members of the Bureau of the Chamber of Councillors have decided.
During a remote meeting held on Monday, the bureau of the Chamber of Councillors discussed the various conclusions of the conference of presidents devoted last Tuesday to examining ways to improve the methodology of the monthly sessions of general policy issues.
According to a press release from the legislative institution, it was agreed to concentrate the work of these sessions on a single axis and to reduce their duration to a maximum of two hours, with a view to further improving this perception at a later date.
On another front, the House of Councillors approved the agenda for the oral question session scheduled for 22 December (15:00), stressed the same source, noting that a joint session of both houses of parliament will soon be held for the presentation of data and indicators on the evolution of the issue of the territorial integrity of the Kingdom, by the Head of Government.
In this sense, the bureau of the chamber discussed the request to hold a joint meeting of the foreign affairs committees of the two chambers of Parliament, with a view to further discuss developments on the issue of the territorial integrity of the Kingdom, in light of the decision of the United States of America to recognize the sovereignty of Morocco over the entire Moroccan Sahara and the evolution of Moroccan-Palestinian relations.
At the level of legislation, the bureau of the chamber decided to hold a plenary session, Tuesday, immediately after the oral question session, for the study and vote of Bill No. 76.20 establishing the “Mohammed VI Fund for Investment”, as well as other texts.
In addition, the Office decided to submit legislative texts to the competent commissions, noting that these include Bill No. 64.20, submitted by the Ministry of Employment and Vocational Integration, promulgating Decree-Law No. 2.20.605 published on 15 September 2020, providing for exceptional measures for the benefit of certain employers who are members of the National Social Security Fund (CNSS) and their declared employees, as well as certain categories of self-employed and non-salaried workers insured with the Fund, affected by the repercussions of the Covid-19 pandemic.
With regard to relations with constitutional institutions, the Chamber of Councillors decided to communicate the opinion of the Economic, Social and Environmental Council (EESC) entitled “Eliminating violence against girls and women: a national emergency” to all parliamentary groups and groupings.
In addition, the office has called for the establishment of a new temporary thematic working group to develop an annual session for the discussion and evaluation of public policies.
Finally, the bureau of the chamber decided to convene a meeting of the parliamentary coordination committee next week to deliberate on issues requiring coordination between the two chambers of parliament, including the reform of the rules of procedure of the chamber of councillors.
