U.S. Administration Extends Visa Freeze for Temporary Workers

U.S. President Donald Trump has decided to extend the freeze on visas for temporary workers for three months, justifying this by the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic.

The White House issued a proclamation banning the entry of immigrants holding different types of visas or Green Cards until March 31, unless the decision is reversed by the Biden administration.

The freeze on employee visas is opposed by several business groups, including the American Chamber of Commerce and the National Association of Industrialists. Both organizations have filed complaints, claiming that the decision is harmful to U.S. economic benefits.

For their part, advocates of immigration restrictions argue that the needs resulting from the Coronavirus require an extension of the visa freeze.
