Morocco’s Representative in Israel Reveals Date of First Direct Flight

The head of the Moroccan liaison office in Tel Aviv, Abderrahim Bayoud, has announced that the direct air service linking the Kingdom and Israel will start immediately after the holy month of Ramadan.

The direct flights between Morocco and Israel that were delayed after the Kingdom’s decision to suspend flights with more than 50 countries, uding France, Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy, Germany, the United Kingdom, Turkey, Egypt and Algeria, are expected to begin after the holy month of Ramadan. This suspension was imposed to prevent the spread of new cases of the mutated variant of the Coronavirus.

The Jerusalem Post reported that the head of the Moroccan liaison office revealed during a lengthy meeting with the Israeli Minister of Regional Cooperation, Ofir Akunis, on Tuesday, Morocco’s intention to “strengthen tourist relations between the two countries through a direct airline”. He also expressed his eagerness to work with the Ministry of Regional Cooperation on “joint projects that benefit both peoples.”

Three companies have previously expressed their willingness to secure direct flights between Morocco and Israel, namely Royal Air Maroc, El Al and Israel Air.
