CAN 2022 (Group C): Sofiane Boufal saves Morocco

The Atlas Lions of Morocco came to the end of the Black Star of Ghana (1-0), this Monday, January 10, at the Ahmadou-Ahidjo stadium in Yaounde. The only goal of the match was scored by Moroccan Sofiane Boufal, who exploited a Ghanaian mistake to give his team the victory in the last minutes. It was a hard-fought victory, but one that did the Atlas Lions good.

The first match of group C of this 33rd edition of the African Cup of Nations, Morocco / Ghana, kept all its promises. Even if this match was not so spectacular, the two teams were holding each other in respect until the last minutes of the game. The salvation of the Atlas Lions came in the 83rdème minute, with a goal from their winger Sofiane Boufal.

As Aboukhlal struggled in the box to break free, Thomas Partey deflected the ball to Sofiane Boufal. The latter only had to put the ball in the goal. This first match was very difficult for Morocco as one could already imagine, but in the end, Achraf Hakimi and his team won this match against the Black Stars.

While waiting for the Comoros / Gabon game, the Atlas Lions are leading group C with 3 points.
