2000 Jews living in Morocco

On the occasion of the Hebrew New Year 5780, the Central Bureau of Statistics in Israel published a report on the number of Jews in the world. According to this report, 2,000 Jews currently reside in Morocco.

It should be noted that the number of Jews living in Morocco exceeded 250,000 in the 1950s, before their emigration to Israel and other countries in the world, including France and the United States, the country that received the largest number of Jews in the world. According to the same source, there are now 5.7 million Jews living in the United States.

Moroccans represent 8.13% of the inhabitants of Israel. There are 6.05 million of them, 488,300 of them of Israeli origin.

The number of Moroccan Israelis who emigrated from Morocco to Israel amounts to 146,400 people. The number of Israeli Moroccans born in the Jewish State is 341,900.

More than 9 million people live in Israel. This number is expected to rise to 10 million within five years.

Jewish citizens represent 74.2% of the total population, while the number of Arab Palestinians living inland is around 21%. The remaining 4.8% is divided between non-Arab residents and residents claiming to belong to other religions.

74% of Israelis live in large cities, while 14.7% live in kibbutz.
