A Tribute to Bertrand Tavernier

The Palais des Congrès witnessed another highlight on December 1, as part of the 18th Marrakech International Film Festival. It is a tribute to Bertrand Tavernier, a great name in the Seventh Art. And it was the American actor Harvey Keitel who presented the Golden Star to the French director, scriptwriter and producer.

Among his many and magnificent works, we will recall “Captain Conan (1996)” where he was a director and screenwriter. In 1997, the film was awarded the César for Best Director. There is also the Bait (1995) which had the Golden Bear Berlin, “A Sunday in the countryside (1984)” for which he received the Prize for Direction in Cannes..…

Bertrand Tavernier’s list of cinematographic creations is long and his modesty is unparalleled. “I don’t know if I deserve this tribute, but I don’t think I deserve my osteoarthritis either,” he said at the end of his tribute in a line borrowed from Robert De Niro in Irishman.
