Morocco: Three Cooperatives Obtain the Certificate of Approval for the Production of Protective Masks

Three cooperatives operating in the city of Marrakech have obtained the certificate of approval for the production of protective masks, as part of the ongoing efforts made by the wilaya of the Marrakech-Safi region to raise resources and means to support the Covid-19 pandemic strategy.

These are the “Tamarates” and “Attaouss” cooperatives operating in the Menara area and “Jawhara” active in M’hamid.

In this sense, the wali of the region of Marrakech-Safi, governor of the prefecture of Marrakech, Karim Kassi-Lahlou paid a visit to the three cooperatives to learn about the operation to launch production and give the presidents of these units the certificates of compliance with Moroccan standards required by the Moroccan Institute of Standardization (IMANOR) and mandatory for the manufacture of protective masks.

This visit was also an opportunity to re-emphasize the need for strict compliance with the preventive measures necessary to avoid the spread of the pandemic.

The overall production capacity of these three entities, which have already benefited from the support programs of the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH), amounts to 8,000 units per day, which could be increased.

In addition, a number of cooperatives have received the necessary guidance and support for their integration into the production operation of protective masks, particularly in terms of supervision and monitoring to obtain certificates of conformity, in coordination with the services of the regional delegation of Trade and Industry and other stakeholders.
