A Low Cost Version of the Renault Kangoo Made in Morocco Will Soon Be Available

According to Challenges magazine, the French car brand is currently rethinking its commercial vehicle model and plans to offer the Kangoo model in two versions. One is a top-of-the-range model made in France, the second is a low-cost model made in Morocco.

The launch of this new Moroccan-made model would be planned for the end of 2020 with a selling price announced at less than 10,000 euros, compared to 21,700 euros for the current Renault Kangoo.

This vehicle will in fact be “an old Dacia Dokker made in Tangier”, which will be ” thoroughly restyled at the front and inside”, notes the Challenges article.

“While Renault is expected to present its restructuring plan next week and the government is keen to preserve industrial activity in France, a complete relocation of the Kangoo to Morocco would go very hard,” says BFMT TV, which points out that 1,725 people work at the Maubeuge site where the luxury version of Renault’s new light commercial vehicle will be produced, which will be available from the beginning of 2021.
