Karim El Ahmadi is expected to return to the Netherlands this summer. Al Ittihad would like to part ways with the player, who is considering ending his career in his native country.
Karim El Ahmadi is not expected to continue the adventure at Saudi Arabia’s Al Ittihad. According to the Arab media outlet Asharq al-Awsat, the club’s management does not wish to extend the 35-year-old midfielder’s contract, which expires on 30 June.
Al Ittihad have reportedly already considered replacing him with Brazilian Jonas Gomes de Sousa (ex-Flamengo). El Ahmadi, for his part, had stated his desire to end his career in his native Netherlands, where he has played most of his career (at FC Twente between 2004 and 2008 and then at Feyenoord on two occasions, 2008-2012 and 2014-2018).
He joined Al Ittihad and Saudi Arabia in July 2018, free of any commitments, and eventually taking over as the team captain.
