Michael Zorc, Dortmund’s sporting director, updated the audience on the situation of Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi, who is on loan to the German club from Real Madrid.
“Ashraf’s contracting situation is clear, he will return to Real Madrid for the time being,” following the end of his two-year loan contract, Zorc said at a press briefing on Thursday, however, he left the door open for the 21-year-old player to return to the German team’s ranks.
“We are doing our best to make sure he will play with us again next season,” he said. “I think it’s too early to discuss that now,” noted the Dortmund sports manager.
Hakimi’s agent, Alejandro Camano, had expressed the Moroccan player’s desire to return to Real Madrid after two years on loan at Borussia Dortmund.
“Hakimi is expected to return to Real Madrid at the end of this season. He is very eager to do so and we are still in contact with the management of the team in the Spanish capital,” Camano said in statements on Onda Cero radio.
According to Camano, Hakim’s sole objective is to play and participate in matches to continue his development after two spectacular seasons in the Bundesliga, noting that discussions are underway with the Madrid club’s management in this regard.
