Casablanca: “#insomnia”, the Next Exhibition of the Artist-Painter Lamiaa Menhal

Lamiaa Menhal is not only a painter, but also the UAE’s ambassador of artists in the United Arab Emirates. She is preparing her next exhibition in Morocco for the end of July and beginning of August. Entitled “#insomnia”, this exhibition describes the confinement in Casablanca. In addition to being an artist, Lamiaa is also an art fashion designer, thus she will also present a new Art Fashion collection.

Ambassador of the Moroccan Culture

Lamiaa Menhal, who was born in Casablanca, joined LaSalle College where she studied illustration. In 2015, she began painting t-shirts, before embarking on a new adventure and launching her own brand the following year: Lamiaa Menhal Fashion. Currently, she has more than 13 fashion shows between Dubai, Paris and Cairo, and more than 75 exhibitions around the world, creating her own designs and developing two collections each year. This year’s theme is “love in all languages”.

The artist, currently based in the Emirates, represents her culture and her country. She has opened an art gallery: ArtisitaGallery at the D3 Dubai Design District. Also, a new platform has been launched with an art magazine, Artisita Magazine, and Artisita Virtual Gallery. The brand is intended to be versatile, and also has a line of bags and shoes, as well as hair perfumes.

Emotions Expressed Only with the Hands

Inspired by life and all what surrounds her, the artist highlights, through her works, the woman and the horses, whose image she defends. She identifies herself with the horse, by the strength of her character and her beauty.

In order to be in harmony with her works, Lamiaa has the characteristic of detaching herself from the brushes, and prefers to express herself with her hands. In fact, her paintings, mostly in oil, are described as a combination of figurative art and abstraction. Her work, which always has a Moroccan touch, has been presented in Lebanon, the United Arab Emirates, France, Switzerland and many other countries.

Every year, she participates in dozens of exhibitions, among them, the Month of Moroccan Art, Morocco in Colors, Art Dubai, Abu Dhabi Art, Sikka, Art FairDubai, Art Fair Lebanon and Women Forum. Her collectors include members of the royal family, diplomats, as well as celebrities.
