Kirk Douglas, a great glamorous Hollywood star, passed away tonight (Wednesday to Thursday) at the age of 103. He is best remembered in his role as a Holocaust survivor in the 1953 film “Making Hits”, the first Hollywood film shot in Israel, and as a participant in the film “The Great Shadow”, where he played Major General David Marcus in 1966. “He was a legend all over the world,” says his son, actor Michael Douglas…
“Kirk, my father, was a humanist, whose commitment to justice for what he believed in set a standard that we should all strive to adhere to,” continued his son. “But to me and to my brothers Joel and Peter, he was just a wonderful father and husband to his wife, Ann, leaving a legacy of filmmaking and work for audiences and world peace. I said to him on his last birthday: ‘Daddy, I love you so much and I’m proud to be your son. “That will always be true.”
