Jared Kushner Visits Morocco

Jared Kushner, the son-in-law and most important advisor to U.S. President Donald Trump, is scheduled to visit Morocco and other countries including the Emirates and Israel early next week, according to Israeli and U.S. media sources.

The agency “Associated Press” reported that according to U.S. diplomats, Kushner will make a visit next week to some countries including Morocco, the Sultanate of Oman, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, in addition to Israel. It also indicated that the aim is to bring the mentioned countries and Tel Aviv closer together, especially after the peace agreement that the Emirates have signed with Israel. Several U.S. and Israeli officials confirmed that other agreements with Arab countries will be signed soon, including Morocco.

Kushner, who is of Jewish faith, will be accompanied by a high-level U.S. delegation, including Avi Berkowitz the White House envoy to the Middle East, Rupert O’Bryan the National Security Advisor and Brian Hook the special envoy of the Israeli Foreign Ministry to Iran. Kushner has already visited Morocco and met with HM King Mohammed VI, as part of a visit that also took him to Jordan and Israel, to promote the deal of the century that the White House considers the best solution to the conflict. Some Arab countries were in favor of the deal while others rejected it.

Several Israeli and American media articles talk about the upcoming normalization of diplomatic relations between Morocco and Israel, under the auspices of the United States. In return, Rabat will receive U.S. recognition of the Moroccan Sahara. U.S. officials said Morocco is the country most likely to establish trade and tourism relations with the Hebrew state, especially since it is known to have protected Jewish minorities who have lived for centuries with their Muslim fellow citizens. According to media reports published by several Israeli newspapers, Morocco has maintained unofficial but strong relations with Israel.
