Morocco Hosts the 53rd Meeting of the Board of Directors of the Arab Electricity Union

In a videoconference held on Wednesday, the Director General of the National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE) and President of the Arab Electricity Union (UAE), Abderrahim El Hafidi, chaired the 53rd meeting of the Board of Directors of the Union. The meeting was attended by the CEOs of Arab electricity companies, members of the UAE, following its postponement last April.

The ONEE proposed to upgrade the structures and mechanisms and the organization of the Union in order to accompany the profound changes that the electricity sector is undergoing at the global, regional and national levels.

Accordingly, a working group chaired by the ONEE was tasked with preparing a study to restructure the Union and define a new model for its development.

In this regard, the statute of the Union was reviewed and approved, the internal regulations were also changed and the organizational restructuring of the Union was carried out. The positions of the Secretary General, experts and employees were determined, and a comprehensive code of conduct was drawn up to determine the missions and activities of the Union’s committees.

In addition, the Board of Directors approved the results of the selection process for a new Secretary General of the UAE, after studying the candidates’ files from among the members.

Thanks to these achievements under the Moroccan presidency, the UAE succeeded in achieving its objectives to develop a new model to meet the challenges imposed by the profound changes in the power sector at the global level.
