In accordance with the High Royal Instructions, Abdeltif Loudyi, Minister Delegate to the Head of Government, in charge of National Defense Administration received, this Thursday in Rabat, General François Lecointre, French’s Military Chief of Staff (CEMA).
A statement by the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) indicates that this meeting was an opportunity for the two officials to highlight the friendship and cooperative ties that bind the Kingdom of Morocco and the French Republic. Moreover, they expressed their willingness to further consolidate these relations in the same spirit of friendship, mutual understanding and shared trust.
The two officials highlighted the important role played by the two countries in promoting stability and security, the statement said.
In the same day and on the High Instructions of His Majesty the King, the Supreme Chief and Chief of General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, Lieutenant General and General Inspector of the FAR received, at the level of the General Staff of the FAR in Rabat, the French host.
Upon his arrival at the General Staff of the FAR, Lieutenant General François Lecointre was welcomed by Lieutenant General, Inspector General of the FAR.
The talks took place in the presence of the French Ambassador to Morocco and the Defense Attaché at the French Embassy in Rabat, the statement said. It added that the talks focused on the consolidation and strengthening of military cooperation between the Armed Forces of the two countries.
Accordingly, the two officials expressed their satisfaction with the quality, strength, excellence and sustainability of this bilateral cooperation and reiterated their common desire to strengthen and deepen it further through the sharing of experience and expertise, and especially through the promotion of inter-operability between the Armies of the two countries. Motivated by the explicit will of the two countries, the agenda of bilateral military cooperation is regularly developed and enriched thanks, in particular, to the biennial Joint Commissions, held alternately in Rabat and Paris, adds the same source, recalling that the last edition took place in Rabat from 25 to 27 June 2019.
General François Lecoindre was also received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans living abroad, Nasser Bourita.
Army General François Lecointre, Chief of Staff of the French Republic is visiting the Kingdom from 09 to 13 September 2020, heading an important delegation. During this visit, the delegation will visit the Royal College of Higher Military Education in Kenitra and the Royal Military Academy in Meknes.
