The film about Yigal Amir will be vying for an Oscar nomination…

“Terrible Days” describing the days before Rabin’s murder from Amir’s point of view, won the Ophir Award and will compete for a place at the prestigious ceremony.

Horrible Days”, the film by Yaron Silberman and Ron Leshem about Rabin’s murder from Yigal Amir’s point of view, is the best film that will attempt to represent Israel at the American Academy Awards in the foreign film category.

Thus (Sunday) concluded the 2019 Israeli Oscars award ceremony at the Kfar Saba Palace of Culture, where the awards were presented in 18 categories. The ceremony, which was conducted by Yuval Sharf and Tzahi Halevi, was broadcast on Israel’s Channel 11.

Yaron Silberman, director of High Days, said: “It’s very exciting, I want to thank you for choosing the film in front of incredible films. I have created an account with 184,500 images, which is the result of great work with great people.

We did not receive any funds and some extraordinary people helped us. Thank you to Ron for being a great partner and writer, and to the great actors. We hope that at the beginning of an era where leaders, instead of dividing and inciting, will unite us. Instead of increasing the level of violence that will increase the level of love between us.

The final selection was made by 1,000 members of the Academy (directors, actors, scriptwriters, photographers, technicians, designers, etc.). At the ceremony, which greeted Israeli films, Nitza Shaul and Mickey Kam, who performed together on “Halfon Hill Does Not Answer”.

Dan Thorne and Dalia Shimko from the film “One of Our Own” presented the photo award to Shai Goldman for the film Synonyms. Yehuda Barkan and Uri Shamir, known as Prosecutor Kugler, who both starred in the film “Stolen Dad”, presented the Best Screenplay Award to Samah Zoabi in “Tel Aviv on Fire”. 

Hannah Azoulay and Abigail Arieli of the film “Love Patient in Housing C” awarded Best Actor to Pleasant Earn for his role in “My Eyes”. Anat Atzmon and Meir Suissa from “Dizengoff 99” gave the Best Director Award to Liron II for his film “My Eyes”.

The ceremony was opened by religious singer Yishai Ribo with the song “Return Home” from the film Forgive with Exciting Performance. The Lifetime Achievement Award went to director Michal Bat-Man who, upon her arrival on stage, was applauded by the audience who lifted her up and cheered her on. The Professional Achievement Award was presented to film critic and speaker Nachman Ingbar by Avi Nesher.
