Intelaka programme: what the wali of Bank Al-Maghrib recommends

The Wali of Bank Al-Maghrib , Abdellatif Jouahri, insisted, on Tuesday, on the need to establish a support policy for young project holders in order to benefit from financing under the Intelaka programme.

Speaking at a press briefing held in video conference mode at the end of the last quarterly meeting of the Board of BAM of the year 2021, Jouahri said that the categories to which the Intelaka program is addressed will have to be accompanied to prepare bankable files, noting that “the idea of the project must be supported by a complete file allowing the bank to move quickly to the agreement to the financing and not rejection.

He noted that the rejection rate at banks is more than a third, stressing the importance of this Royal project launched in October 2019 and which is dedicated to the promotion of entrepreneurship and financial inclusion.

The Wali of BAM also highlighted the need for the coordination of Regional Investment Centres (RICs) at the regional level, stating that the Central Bank “will label with these centres the partners who can provide contributions at the level of Intelaka credit applicants”.

The objective is to find the right framework, both comprehensive and simple, to make the files bankable and to be able to access financing, he explained in this regard.

At the end of the meeting, the BAM Board decided to keep the key rate unchanged at 1.5%.
