Covid-19 in Morocco: more than 2000 new cases recorded in the last 24 hours

A total of 2,034 new cases of infection with the new coronavirus (Covid-19) and 660 recoveries have been recorded in Morocco in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection said on Friday.

In its daily bulletin on the epidemiological situation, the Ministry noted that the number of people who received their first vaccination reached 24,557,876, that of those who received two doses amounted to 22,931,922, while 2,991,107 people received three injections.

The new infection toll brings the total number of infections since the first case was reported in Morocco in March 2020 to 963,092, while the number of people who have recovered has risen to 940,193, representing a recovery rate of 97.6%.

The new cases were recorded in the regions of Casablanca-Settat (1,314), Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (444), Marrakech-Safi (181), Souss-Massa (32), Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima (22), Fès-Meknès (20), Oriental (11), Béni Mellal-Khénifra (4), Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra (2), Draâ-Tafilalet (2), Guelmim-Oued Noun (1) and Dakhla-Oued Eddahab (1).

The total number of deaths rose to 14,849 (case-fatality 1.5%), with two new cases recorded in the regions of Grand Casablanca-Settat, Souss-Massa Region, Fez-Meknes and Beni Mellal-Khenifra.

There are 8,050 active cases and 21 new severe or critical cases were recorded in 24 hours, for a total of 140, including 2 under intubation. The occupancy rate of the resuscitation beds is 2.7%.
