World Cup and Morocco

The Kingdom has decided to submit its candidacy for the organisation of the 2030 Football World Cup. And Le Site info has learned that Morocco will officially, in the next few days, reveal that it is a candidate to organise the 2030 World Cup.

It should be noted that the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) will soon be receiving applications from countries interested in organising this global football event. The 2030 edition will be the second one which will see the participation of 48 international teams, which supposes, for the organising country, to have an unstoppable infrastructure and stadiums of good quality, among other requirements of the specifications. This seems to be favourable, at first glance, to Morocco’s bid, compared to those of other nations that will be in the running.

It should be recalled that this Moroccan decision constitutes the sixth attempt to organise the World Cup, after those of 1994, 1998, 2096, 2010 and 2006. The five attempts were all doomed to failure respectively against the United States, France, Germany, South Africa, the United States, Canada and, finally, Mexico.

If the Moroccan bid is successful, it would be the second time that the World Cup would be held on our continent, after South Africa in 2010, and the first time in a North African country. The 2022 edition will be held in Qatar, an Arab and Muslim country.
