“Hakim Ziyech wanted, with three other players, to blow up the group,” according to Vahid Halilhodzic

Asked about a possible return of Hakim Ziyech to the national team, Vahid Halilhodzic dropped a bombshell by assuring that the Chelsea player wanted, along with three other players he did not name, to make the national team explode.

“When I arrived at the national team, the most criticised player was Hakim Ziyech. He was whistled by the public and I defended him by going in front of the public to tell them that it is shameful to whistle a player. The next match, I gave him the captain’s armband,” Vahid Halilhodzic began by explaining.

Coach Vahid further revealed that Ziyech was part of a group of three or four players who wanted to blow up the group by refusing to warm up and train with the group. He continued: ‘The national team is above everyone else. There is a group that has been formed and I want to protect this group,” he explained.

When asked about the possibility of overcoming the conflict with the player, Vahid assured that he has already forgiven the player twice, but that there are “limits to everything”. Finally, he said that he had set a condition for Ziyech’s possible return, namely that he would do his mea culpa in front of everyone.

It will be difficult to see Ziyech with the national team in this condition as long as Vahid is in place.
