Medical training reform: the National Students’ Commission reacts

Medical, dental and pharmacy students are reacting to the reform project relating to the duration of their training, announced by the department of Abdellatif Miraoui, in a circular sent to university presidents.

The National Commission of Medical Students in Morocco (CNEM) said in a statement released Tuesday that it has contacted the various actors, including the Ministry of Higher Education, the deans of faculties and university presidents to have more details on the content of this correspondence.

According to the information obtained by the press release, the CNEM has provided several clarifications on the reduction of training years from 7 to 6 years, noting that the project does not provide for any change in the training programme from the 1st year to the 5th year of study in medicine, according to the medical study regime currently in force, pending the first data to be discussed by the stakeholders.

The same source specifies that the CNEM underlines the will of the Ministry of Education to employ all the pedagogical, logistical and human means necessary to accompany the gradual increase in the number of students.
