First stone of the extension project of Club Med Marrakech La Palmeraie

After several months of renovation work, the “Club Med Exclusive Collection Le Riad” reopened its doors in February. Equipped with updated leisure facilities, the establishment offers very high-end services. The Trident brand has also kicked off the extension project of Club Med La Palmeraie Marrakech, which will have around 60 additional rooms.

These large-scale projects are part of the partnership sealed between Madaëf, the Tourism Branch of the CDG Group, and Club Med, on October 19, 2020. The aim of this partnership is to perpetuate the Riad Club Med Marrakech la Palmeraie, which opened in 2004, and to increase its capacity to 350 rooms, while reinforcing its family orientation in order to meet the expectations of a high-end and international clientele.

The first phase was the total renovation of 60 suites and the common areas of the “Club Med Exclusive Collection Le Riad”. Restoration of the reception, bar and lounges, replacement of the furniture around the pool and on the restaurant terrace, and mineralisation of the private gardens: nothing was left to chance. These achievements are part of the large-scale renovation and extension project of “Club Med Marrakech La Palmeraie”, in the heart of which the Riad is nestled.

The Riad is the very first space in the Club Med Exclusive Collection range, one of the flagships of Club Med’s move upmarket decided by Henri Giscard d’Estaing, President of Club Med, and announced at the opening of Club Med Marrakech la Palmeraie. The project focuses firstly on the modernisation of the public areas of Club Med Marrakech la Palmeraie.

This sequence includes the renovation of the wellness area with a hammam, the Meeting & Events area and the children’s areas; the modernisation of the restaurant offer with the renewal of the buffets; the creation of a wine cellar in the main restaurant as well as the transformation of the El Kébir restaurant. Also planned are installations to improve the resort’s energy performance and thermal comfort.
The renovation work is being carried out in several phases, with the aim of complete delivery in September 2022.

The extension part concerns the creation of a new family zone with 66 rooms, 54 of which have a view of the swimming pool, the construction of a heated swimming pool with water games and a bar, as well as the installation of a baby club. In addition, there are 22 GO accommodations, locker rooms and a new car park for the GEs. Appreciated by golfers for its “pitch and putt” course bordered by olive, orange and palm trees, the resort will offer its guests a unique experience. Mamoun Lahlimi Alami, General Manager of Madaëf, declares: “The renovation and the launch of the extension works of Club Med Marrakech La Palmeraie mark the upscale of this emblematic village and will further enrich the tourism offer in Marrakech. These projects also consolidate our historical relationship with our partner Club Med and allow us to renew our commitment to the revival of the tourism sector, which has been undermined over the last two years.

They come at a particular time when the tourism industry is beginning a promising recovery cycle and we are continuing our investment effort with a view to contributing, with our partners and through our projects, to repositioning the tourism offer in the Kingdom’s various destinations”. Present in Morocco since 1963, Club Med, the inventor of the “all-inclusive upscale and experiential” holiday concept and with proven expertise, has been at the forefront of global tourism since its creation in 1950.

“Through this project, Club Med reaffirms its commitment to work with Madaëf. The investments we have made have enabled us to increase our capacity and offer very high quality services to better meet the expectations of families and active couples. With Madaëf, we are true to our commitment to offer a generous and welcoming style of luxury on a human scale,” emphasises Henri Giscard d’Estaing, President of Club Med.

In Essaouira, Club Med is developing a new premium resort. With 350 rooms and accessible all year round, this eco-resort for families and active couples, enhanced by a Club Med Exclusive Collection area, will be fully integrated into its environment. It will offer a quality tourism experience combining an exceptional natural, historical and cultural heritage, leisure activities for families and a wide range of water sports. Club Essaouira-Mogador is scheduled to open in 2024
