Morocco – Israel: A delegation from UM6P visits the Hebrew University of Jerusalem

Academic cooperation between Israel and Morocco reached a high point this week following the visit of a high-level delegation from Morocco’s Université Polytechnique Mohammed VI (UM6P) to the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, reports Jewish News Syndicate (JNS)

With a view to establishing a medical school and a school of pharmacy, UM6P representatives met with Professor Dina Ben-Yehuda, dean of the Hebrew University-Hadassah medical school, to learn how the Israeli school is preparing its future doctors for a career based on computational medicine and artificial intelligence.

“These discussions are part of a new dynamic in the relationship between the Kingdom of Morocco and Israel. After setting up the framework for collaboration, we are now launching a new step to bring together researchers and scientists from both sides to discuss concrete projects in the fields of agriculture, sustainability, health and high technology,” said Hicham El Habti, president of UM6P.

For his part, Israeli university president Asher Cohen noted that officials are “looking forward to the many ways this collaboration will benefit both countries and the region as a whole.

Moreover, the visit is based on an agreement signed between the two universities last August to “collaborate in areas of mutual interest, namely agriculture, business, pharmacology, natural sciences, mathematics and computer engineering,” JNS said.
