221 illegal immigrants rescued in Morocco

The Royal Navy coastguards, as part of a maritime patrol operation in the Mediterranean and Atlantic Ocean, have provided assistance during the past week, from 2 to 8 May 2022, to 221 candidates for irregular migration, mainly from sub-Saharan Africa, including women and men minors, MAP learned from military sources.
 
The recovered candidates, including 18 corpses, left at sea on makeshift boats, kayaks, jet skis and some swam.
 
The rescued individuals received first aid on board units of the Royal Navy, before being transported to the nearest ports of the Kingdom and then handed over to the Royal Gendarmerie for the usual procedures. As for the 18 corpses, they were taken to the morgues of the local hospital infrastructure, the same source added.
