Monkeypox: First confirmed case in Morocco

The Ministry of Health and Social Protection announced on Thursday the registration of the first confirmed case of monkeypox in Morocco. The case is from a European country and remains in stable condition and is being managed according to approved health procedures.

Immediately after the results of the laboratory tests of the confirmed case, the health authorities launched epidemiological investigations to identify all contacts of the infected person, to prevent the spread of the virus in accordance with national and international health safety standards.

“Currently, the infected person’s contacts were symptom-free for up to one hour. The officials of the WHO (World Health Organization), the officials of the International Health Regulations in the country of the infected person have also been informed of the results of the analysis,” reads the statement of the tutelage.

The Ministry of Health and Social Protection is also committed to keeping the national public opinion informed of all epidemiological developments.
