Morocco: 830 kilograms of Chira seized in Khouribga

The Direction Générale de la Sûreté Nationale (DGSN) announced on its Twitter account on Friday that a joint operation between the judicial police and the Direction Générale de la Surveillance du Territoire (DGST) in Khouribga had foiled a drug trafficking attempt involving a total quantity of 830 kilograms of Chira.

During this operation, a commercial vehicle, whose driver refused to comply, was intercepted while driving in the direction of Khouribga, according to a security source, who added that the car in question was subsequently immobilized on a secondary road towards the commune of Rommani. A search of the vehicle led to the seizure of 26 bales containing a total of 830 kg of Chira.

Preliminary investigations at the scene led to the arrest of a single individual suspected of involvement in this drug trafficking operation, in possession of a sum of money that could have come from this type of criminal activity, adds the same source. The person arrested was placed in police custody for investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, with a view to shedding light on the scope of this criminal operation and identifying the suspect’s accomplices.
