On Monday afternoon, members of the Agadir prefectural criminal investigation department arrested a 65-year-old retired doctor for his alleged involvement in the illegal practice of abortion, according to security sources.
The suspect, who had a criminal record in cases of illegal abortion, was arrested during a security operation inside an apartment in the city of Agadir.
The accused was caught in the act of performing an abortion on a 22-year-old woman, in the presence of a woman he knew, in unhygienic conditions.
Investigations also led to the arrest of a secretary working in another medical clinic, suspected of having participated in this criminal act. The main suspect, the secretary and the two women were placed in police custody for investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, with a view to clarifying the ins and outs of this case and determining all the criminal acts of which they are accused, adds the same source.
