Casablanca: Busway operational from July

Urban mobility is at the top of Casablanca Mayor Nabila Rmili’s list of priority projects, which she discussed as a guest of the British Chamber of Commerce for Morocco. In this context, the mayor took stock of the priority projects for the city of Casablanca, the Kingdom’s economic capital, with the ambition of making it an intelligent, sustainable and inclusive city.

As part of her vision to turn the city into a sustainable and attractive metropolis offering a high standard of living to its inhabitants, she explained that: “The city is working on new projects at the same time, but we mustn’t forget that all available infrastructures need both maintenance and continuous updating to be functional”.

On this occasion, she recalled that the Casablanca 2023-2028 Municipal Action Plan comprises 6 development axes, 25 programs and some 100 projects, with a total budget of 40 billion dirhams. One of the most important areas is transport management.

She highlighted the difficulties encountered in carrying out work on both the tramway and busway extensions in a busy city. “I apologize to the public for the inconvenience caused by the work, but we’re doing everything we can to meet the deadlines for bringing the T3 and T4 lines into service. They will be ready in 2024”, announces the mayor. As for the busway, she confirms that it will be operational as early as July.
