Happy birthday, Your Highness Lalla Asmaa

The Royal Family and the Moroccan people celebrate, on Sunday, the birthday of HRH Princess Lalla Asmaa, an opportunity to highlight Her Royal Highness’s permanent commitment to improving the situation, particularly for people with special needs and the most disadvantaged populations.

Committed from an early age to promoting the noble values of patriotism and solidarity, HRH Princess Lalla Asmaa has made the improvement of conditions for children with special needs her main focus.

In her capacity as Honorary President of the Lalla Asmaa Foundation for Deaf Children and Youth, Her Royal Highness surrounds this part of the population with her concern, ensuring its well-being and its perfect integration into the Moroccan society.

For several decades, the Foundation has provided specialized education based on the national education system’s primary and secondary school curriculum to beneficiaries which received technical support, thanks, among other things, to digital hearing aids and electronic transmission systems that facilitate their adaptation and their emergence from isolation.

The institution also provides vocational training by offering workshops in embroidery, weaving, hairdressing and plastic arts, while offering its students the opportunity to take part in training in other specialities integrated into vocational training centers in the craft sector.

Continually committed to giving of herself to this institution, a pioneer in the care of deaf children, Lalla Asmaa presided over the Foundation’s 2018-2019 school year-end ceremony during the same month of June.

This was an opportunity for Her Royal Highness to learn more about the Foundation’s educational project and the activities of the university life of the Foundation’s students at the Faculty of Science in Rabat.

The ceremony also provided an opportunity to present to HRH Lalla Asmaa the inclusive education for the Foundation’s future students at the Euro-Mediterranean University of Fez, as well as the activities of the students’ participation in the Mohammedia Foundation’s holiday village of social works of magistrates and justice officials in Agadir in the summer of 2018.

Through the celebration of the anniversary of HRH Lalla Asmaa, the Moroccan people pay tribute to a committed Princess who, thanks to her kindness, has left her mark on the field of social action in favor of children with hearing loss.
