Morocco Bans the Export of Medical Protection Masks

MHE has made the export of medical protective masks subject to authorization, Media24 learns from a reliable source. In other words, no masks will be allowed to leave the country.

The aim is to cancel all forms of mask exports in times of high international demand.

On Monday, the Head of Government and the Minister of Health announced that the government has a stock of 12 million masks. These masks are produced in Morocco, by a private operator as well as by the gendarmerie and the Civil Protection. The two officials said that Morocco wants to increase its stock. The national production thus goes in priority to the State. The buyer is the Ministry of Health.

An attempt to export at least several thousand masks has been unsuccessful.

On the domestic market, it is difficult to find masks, as they are in great demand due to a phenomenon of anxiety which, at this stage, is unjustified.

According to our source, this “preventive” decision to suspend is temporary, until the Moroccan stock reaches international standards.
