Jewish Artist: Rediscovering the Artwork of Gerty Simon

Wiener Holocaust Library announces the online exhibition of Gerty Simon’s lost photographs. The exhibition presents the life and work of the pioneering photographer, renowned in the 1920s and 1930s for her portraits of political and artistic personalities, first in Berlin and then in London between the two wars.

The Wiener Holocaust Library thus highlights, for the first time ever in the world, the work of an innovative but largely forgotten creator. Thanks to the estate of her son Bernard Simon, the Library has had access to 327 unpublished prints as well as documents on exhibitions by the artist.

Now it is time to bring back to light such an exceptional photographer who had links to erlin with the flourishing and innovative creative scene of actors, writers, composers, dancers and artists, as well as to the world.
