His Majesty King Mohammed VI expressed his condolences to Mrs. Hélène El-Youssoufi, wife of the great activist, the late Master Abderrahmane El-Youssoufi, former Prime Minister, who died during the night of Thursday at the age of 96.
In this message, the sovereign said he learned with great shock and deep sadness the news of the death of the great activist, the late Master Abderrahmane El-Youssoufi, adding that his death is a great loss, not only for his family, but also for his country, Morocco, which loses one of its most precious men.
An entire section of the history of modern Morocco bears the mark of his unique personality and his distinctive style as a faithful and loyal man, clearly committed to his principles and guided by an eminent sense of responsibility,” the sovereign said.
During this painful circumstance, which has come as a result of the unstoppable will of God, the King expresses his most sincere condolences and deepest sympathy to Mrs Hélène El-Youssoufi and, through her, to the loved ones of the late deceased, his friends, his supporters and his great national political family, in particular the Socialist Union of Popular Forces Party. The sovereign said he was moved and respectful of the deceased who had great human qualities, stressing that his sincere patriotism never failed during the decades of his militant action. His career was devoted to the defense of human rights and his political life was marked by enormous sacrifices. Inspired by an ardent devotion to the higher interests of his country, he always showed an unshakable attachment to the glorious Alaouite throne, and an unfailing loyalty to the sacred symbols and beliefs of the nation, the message continues.
“We understand the full significance of this cruel loss. We remember how much the illustrious deceased was committed, from the very first hour, in the anti-colonial struggle and with great humility and self-sacrifice, he devoted his entire life to the service of the Sacred Causes of his country,” the Royal message recalls.
With such values in mind, the sovereign stresses that the deceased shone in the exercise of the duties that were successively entrusted to him, including that of Prime Minister in the government of alternation, under the reign of our beloved father, the late His Majesty King Hassan II, may God rest his soul, and then under that of Our Majesty. The Royal message emphasizes that the late King, may God be gracious to him in His mercy, worked in this way during a historic milestone in the process of consolidating our democratic choice and revealed his stature as a wise and seasoned statesman.
“Sharing your grief in these painful moments, we assure you of our continued and generous concern and implore the Most High to provide you with comfort and relief. May He welcome the deceased in His immense Paradises, grant him His infinite mercy, and may He grant him the best of rewards, in retribution for the good and loyal services rendered to His King and Country,” the message emphasizes.
“O soul, now at peace! Return to your Lord, satisfied and pleased! From now on be of my servants, and be welcome to My Paradise”. “We belong to God, and to Him we return”. True is the word of God.
